Our Story

Founded in New Jersey by Samya Sondhi.

Women make up 80% of the total healthcare workforce and over half of all medical students. But stepping into an operating room or a board meeting, that statistic doesn't make any sense.

77% of general surgeons, 90% of neurosurgeons, and leadership positions are mostly held by men...by a landslide. Historically, us woman have shown to assist in medicine rather than be it...and as the future of healthcare in New Jersey...WE are trying to collectively change that and it starts with you.

So, I welcome you to SIS or Sisters in Scrubs, a research organization/female society of high school girls reaching for the above and beyond. Working to get into the best pre-med colleges and universities can be a hard, demanding and intimidating process, but you don't have to do it alone. This organization gives you the chance to explore and embrace what you love, and want to do early, while being surrounded by high school girls with the same passions and ambitions.

But most importantly, our group is driven by you. Meaning, whether that is wanting to lead a research project in a specialty or volunteering at a local hospital, you hold the power. A lot of you guys came up with such amazing ideas that I can't wait to talk about to further grow our group...and I can't wait to work with all of you!

Let's not wait to become the future of medicine, because we are.

So embrace it.
